CHRIS H. HANSEN
Mr. Hansen is a partner with the law firm of Anderson, Julian & Hull LLP. He has an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell publications. He has a wide variety of litigation experience. His areas of practice include insurance defense, personal injury litigation, claims involving professional liability, products liability, representing governmental entities, ERISA litigation, complex commercial litigation, commercial transactions, construction law, employment law, dram shop claims and the formation of small businesses.
In the area of personal injury litigation, Mr. Hansen has been lead counsel and has tried a number of cases involving serious personal injury and wrongful death. He has been the lead attorney and tried cases involving farm equipment, trucking, and a number of cases involving serious automobile accidents, including dram shop claims. Mr. Hansen has also represented clients in personal injury cases involving products liability issues, such as bicycles, motorcycles, exercise equipment and scaffolding. He has also tried cases involving herd districts and open range issues.
A major portion of Mr. Hansen’s practice includes litigation concerning alleged negligent building construction. Mr. Hansen has represented both general contractors and subcontractors in cases involving custom log homes, custom spec homes, remodel projects, convenience stores and commercial properties. He is also the corporate attorney for a company which sells roofing materials.
Additionally, Mr. Hansen has worked on a number of cases involving professional malpractice such as realtor malpractice, licensed counselor malpractice, accountant and attorney malpractice. He has represented clients in cases concerning claims of breach of contract, misrepresentation, fraud, forgery and embezzlement. Occasionally, he also represents school districts on cases involving special education under the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). He has also worked with cases involving employment issues, such as claims of discrimination and/or wrongful termination.
Many courts utilize ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) programs. Mr. Hansen has also acted as lead counsel and participated in a multitude of cases which were resolved through the ADR process, including mediations and arbitrations.
In addition to his litigation activities, Mr. Hansen is also the co-author of “Evaluations and their Role in Litigation,” Eighth Annual Education Law Institute, 1999. He was also co-author of “A Practical Guide to Federal Court Rules and Procedures in Idaho: Ethical Considerations,” National Business Institute, 2000. In addition, he authored “Special Education” for the Twelfth Annual Education Law Institute, 2003.
Mr. Hansen is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Idaho. He is also admitted to all courts of the State of Idaho. He has also been admitted to the state courts for the State of Washington. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association, the Idaho State Bar Litigation Section, Washington State Bar, and the Boise Adjusters’ Association. In addition, Mr. Hansen is a member of TIDA, Trucking Insurance Defense Association as well as DRI.
Mr. Hansen is a native Idahoan. He was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Boise State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and economics. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Idaho in 1983. After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1983, he practiced in Salmon, Idaho for the firm of Furey & Furey for approximately one year. He then returned to Boise, Idaho, where he joined the firm of Kennedy & Thomas for about three years, working primarily on personal injury cases, family law, wills and estates, and representing small businesses in commercial litigation. Mr. Hansen then moved to the firm of Quane, Smith, Howard & Hull, where his practice focused primarily upon insurance defense litigation, including cases involving personal injury and construction law. He is one of the founding members of the firm Anderson, Julian & Hull.
When time permits, Mr. Hansen enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, and golf. He is a certified Idaho Hunter Education instructor. He is married and has two sons.
